A clear policy for a game that respects your privacy.

Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy applies to the Vocabug application for iOS, iPadOS and Windows, published by Rovshan Garayev (“we”, “us”, or “our”). It describes the game and related support communications, not the data practices of other websites or platform stores.

What Vocabug does not do

• Vocabug does not require a separate Vocabug account. Available cloud saves use your Apple or Steam account.
• It does not send learning progress to a separately operated Vocabug server.
• It contains no advertising, analytics or remote crash-reporting SDK.
• It does not use advertising identifiers or track people across apps or websites.
• It does not sell learning data or share it for marketing. Cloud transfers and support communications are described below.

Game data stored on the device

Vocabug stores limited technical game data in local app storage:

• selected interface and learning languages;
• tutorial-completion and preference settings;
• completed levels and best star results;
• internal identifiers for words shown; and
• local learning statistics, including whether a word was recalled or missed and the time of recent practice.

This information is used to continue the campaign, unlock levels, select vocabulary for review and display learning progress. It is not used to build an advertising profile. Some learning data can also be included in the cloud save described below.

Automatic saving and cloud sync

Progress saves automatically on the device; manual saving is not required. When iCloud is available on iPhone or iPad, Vocabug syncs learning progress through your Apple Account’s private CloudKit database. You can continue on another iPhone or iPad using the same account. Sync resumes when you leave a puzzle or Review. Playing offline still saves locally; cloud sync requires an internet connection.

Windows saves progress locally. If Steam Cloud is available and enabled for your account and game build, the Steam client uploads cloud saves after the game closes and downloads them before the next launch. Steam Cloud availability depends on the game’s rollout and your Steam settings; it is not a promise that every Windows build or account currently has cloud access.

Apple and Steam saves are independent. iPhone/iPad progress is not transferred to Steam, and Steam progress is not transferred to iPhone/iPad.

A cloud snapshot contains level stars, learning statistics for each language direction, discovered words, level-word history and the last played level. Purchases, reminder schedules, sound, controls and interface preferences are not included as cloud learning progress. Cloud transfers go to Apple or Valve under their service terms and privacy policies. There is no separately operated Vocabug progress server.

Private CloudKit progress content is not visible in the developer portal. Operational diagnostics are described below. Depending on Apple device settings, local app data may separately be included in a device or iCloud backup. Such backups are different from Vocabug’s cloud saves; we do not receive access to your device backup.

Technical identifiers and service diagnostics

Cloud saving uses a platform-account identifier to separate save ownership and a randomly generated installation identifier to support synchronization. These are not advertising or hardware identifiers. Apple’s CloudKit service logs may show a container-specific pseudonymous user ID, operation time, platform, operating-system version, result and transfer size. They do not expose private progress content. Service diagnostics may be used to investigate cloud errors, not for advertising or cross-app tracking.

Answers built from fruit pieces

Portal answers are checked on the device. On iPhone and iPad, answers are reconstructed by tapping the fruit pieces collected during the puzzle. Vocabug does not send the exact entered answer to a server or permanently retain that exact answer text. It may retain the correct or incorrect outcome as part of learning statistics, which can also sync with available cloud saves. Desktop builds may additionally accept physical-keyboard input.

Permissions and network access

The game does not request access to contacts, photos, camera, microphone, location or health information. Optional iPhone/iPad reminders request notification permission; reminder schedules remain on the device and are not part of the progress snapshot. Bundled words, levels, artwork and audio work offline. Cloud synchronization, store distribution, purchases and purchase restoration require the relevant platform service and a network connection.

Platform purchases and services

Apple handles App Store distribution, in-app payments, purchase restoration, iCloud and device backups under Apple’s terms and privacy policy. Vocabug uses the store result needed to unlock purchased content. Valve handles Steam distribution, purchases, account services and any available Steam Cloud sync under Valve’s terms and privacy policy. We do not receive full payment-card details from either platform. Restoring an App Store purchase is separate from restoring learning progress through iCloud.

When you contact support

If you voluntarily email support, we receive your email address and the information you choose to include. We use it only to reply, investigate the issue, prevent abuse and meet applicable legal obligations. Please do not include information that is not needed for your request. Our email provider may process the message to deliver and store it under its own terms.

Deletion and controls

Settings → Reset progress clears stars and word history on this device and sends a reset to the connected platform account’s cloud save at the next successful sync. Other devices using that account apply the reset when they next sync. This cannot be undone inside Vocabug. Some preferences, including selected languages and tutorial status, may remain. Resetting Apple progress does not reset Steam progress, or vice versa.

Deleting the app removes its local data but does not delete its cloud save. If a cloud save exists, it can be restored in Vocabug by syncing with the same platform account. Device backups must be managed separately through the operating system or platform service. There is no Vocabug progress server from which we can manually restore your save; private iCloud progress cannot be edited on your behalf through the developer portal.

Children’s privacy

Vocabug is a general-audience vocabulary puzzle game. It does not ask players to provide a name, email address or other profile information to play, and does not use learning progress for advertising or tracking. Available cloud services process the technical data described above. A parent or guardian may contact us about privacy or a support communication.

Security

Local data protection depends on operating-system security and device settings. Cloud data protection and availability depend on the platform provider and your account settings. No device or service can be guaranteed completely secure or continuously available.

Changes to this policy

If Vocabug adds analytics, advertising, a separate Vocabug account, another cloud provider, a backend or a materially different data practice, this policy and relevant store privacy disclosures will be reviewed and updated. The revised effective date will appear at the top of this page.
